Tracy Urvater, P.T. Tracy Urvater graduated, with honors, from New York Universitys Program in Physical Therapy in 1988. She spent the next 2 years working at the prestigious Rusk Institute for Rehabilitation, where she had the opportunity to work with very challenging cases, such as individuals with spinal cord injuries, strokes, and traumatic brain injuries. At the same time, Tracy also worked with orthopedic cases and began to integrate orthopedic treatment philosophies and knowledge into her work with neurological patients. This diverse group of patient cases gave her a broad base of experience from which to draw as she made the decision to change her focus to a more orthopedically based practice. Tracy has been practicing orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy in Rockland County since 1990, and thus has a broad following. Over her years of practice, Tracy has taken many continuing education courses to advance her skills in manual therapy and in the treatment of general orthopedic problems, with an emphasis on the spine, shoulders and knees. Tracys own background as a high school swimmer and softball player gives her great insight into the rehabilitation of shoulder injuries, which is an area of special interest to her. Additionally, Tracy has experience in designing exercise programs for women who are pregnant. Tracy is the Senior Physical Therapist at the newest location of Rockland Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Airmont, NY. She is involved in patient treatment as well as administration and management of the Physical Therapy Clinic. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, and plans to prepare to sit for the APTA Orthopedic Certified Specialist Examination. Tracy continues to play softball recreationally (with a few more aches and pains than before).
